Oak Park D97 Music Camps in August

It's not too late to sign up for the D97 music camps scheduled for August 2nd - 13th at Brooks Middle School. The band, orchestra and choir camp is from 8:30 - 12:00 p.m. and students can sign up for one or two 1 hr. sessions. Classes include band, choir and jazz band. The cost for each session is $75. There will be a final concert on Friday, Aug. 13th in the morning for families to come out and hear there kids perform.

The D97 Jazz Camp is still looking for students who will be in 7th-9th grades this upcoming fall that play saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass and drum set. The jazz camp is from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. and consists of four different sessions including: big band rehearsal, jazz history/listening, jazz improvisation/theory and master classes with professional Chicago area jazz musicians. This year's masterclass teachers are Mark O'Connor (saxophones), Larry Pearce (trombones), Victor Garcia (trumpets) and Mark Maegdlin (rhythm section). The final concert will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13th at the historic Fitzgerald's Night Club on Roosevelt Rd. The cost of the jazz camp is $150 which is a great deal!
